INFORMATION FOR ALL FLORIDA ARMY M.A.R.S. NEW MEMBERS

Greetings to all new members of Florida Army MARS and a special welcome from me, Paul Donahue, your State Membership Coordinator.

As you embark on this adventure in the military affiliate radio system you will find many interesting things taking place. Yet as in all organizations we also have to start in the beginning and learn many things so we will be effective and able to perform the MARS mission.

As your State Membership Coordinator this responsibility falls on my shoulders and with your help we will have the opportunity to not only train you in the proper procedures and policies, but will watch many of you go on to state and region appointments and special assignments with pride in all your accomplishments in this wonderful MARS opportunity.

There is some information I will need from you so I may complete the task of training. I need to know what you have for radios, time available for nets (working around your hours of work), this is so I can provide you with information as to a net geared to meet your individual needs.

You may ask, "Why are you doing this Paul?" and the answer is quite simple and I will list my duties for you to see and ask for you to feel free to contact me at my Florida MARS e-mail address anytime for assistance or help. The following are my duties as your State Membership Coordinator as outlined in the SOP:

(d) Ensure the new member understands the participation and reporting requirements to retain membership.

(e) Ensure new members are familiar with the chain of command and who the state officers are.

Working together I will endeavor to provide each of you with the information listed above and following completion the /T after your call sign will be removed by higher headquarters. Should you need any material such as - Basic training Manual, National emergency Oplan 4-02, The MARS SOP, The Florida Emergency SOP, or the Army MARS NetPlan, please let me know and I'll send it what I can right away and/or have it mailed to you ASAP.

Please don't hesitate to contact me at AAT4XS@flmars.org anytime you desire as I am here for you.

Thank you so much for your help in our working together to meet the overall MARS Mission.

Respectfully yours,
